HakiMadini is a community based not for profit organization established and registered in 2001 under society ordinance. It started operations in the late 1990s as an activism group for artisanal mineworkers. It has developed over time as a strong representative body for small scale mining communities in Northern Tanzanian.
Hakimadini envisages a just fair and transparent mineral resource use, control and management in Tanzania.
Our mission is to strengthen the capacities of artisanal/ small scale miners and the local community to engage, participate and benefit from the mineral wealth, as well as to defend and promote basic human rights.
HakiMadini is structured using a hybrid programming system combining grass-root socioeconomic development with national, regional and international advocacy. The grass-root work involves Human Rights (HR) training, capacity building on micro credit and savings, value addition, entrepreneurship and market information. Our advocacy program involves working with media groups highlighting disadvantaged groups, connecting mining stakeholders through community forums, lobbying at parliament, research, and campaigning with like minded organisations on issues such as children?s rights and family violence.
After meeting with you I have discoverd that you have helped a lot both the small scale minners and the society living around bid minning companies. Keep up the good work.
